Q&A with Hutchinson Trinity’s Gavin Judy – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Holly’s Pet Shoppe

Hutchinson Trinity athlete Gavin Judy spoke to VYPE recently to tell us more about who he is.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

To win the state powerlifting meet in Conway Springs this year. I got runner up last year so I hope to keep getting better in the weight room and win my weight class this year.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I had in the last year had to be going down to Southwestern camp in Winfield. Southwestern camp is our football team camp we go to every year. It is a two day camp so we get to spend the night in the dorms, we go to Pizza Ranch for lunch, and just hang out as a team. It is always fun to hang out as a team.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

I would say my favorite teacher had to be my 5th grade reading teacher Mrs. Shepard. I personally don’t like to read but she made it to where I did like to read in that class and just made school a little more fun.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory has to be when I got an interception against Inman this year.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

I would say a senior who graduated last year named Angel Faudoa. He really showed me how to work and grind in the weight room and then transfer the same work ethic to the field.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

The best part of being on this team is that we are all brothers. Since we only have around 35 guys on the team you really grow closer to them through the season and the years of playing together. Especially since are team has had some ups and downs in the past couple of years these guys have really became family to me.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

I would go to the Lake of the Ozarks. I would probably take the 5 starting O-lineman because we always have fun when we hangout and were all pretty good friends.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I would definintly spend that money on a pair of sneakers. I don’t know what pair inperticular but I would defininelty find a nice pair of shoes to buy with that money. Probably a pair of Jordans.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I am involved with the key club that Trinity has but other than that it is just sports.
