Q&A with Haven’s Dustin Loughrie – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Medicine Shoppe

Haven wrestler Dustin Loughrie spoke to VYPE in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goal for the year is to make it to the state finals.

VYPE:What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is when I won Regionals as a sophomore. That was the first year Haven had wrestling back.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Honestly all of them. Seeing them work hard day in and day out just keeps me going. I respect them all a lot for that.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on the team is my teammates. They are good people to be around and they keep me in a positive mindset.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Wrestling has taught me to always work hard and to be coachable. Life isn’t always easy and neither is wrestling. You gotta work hard and work through adversity on and off the mat.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice I’ve gotten is before I wrestle my dad tells me whatever I do “don’t suck.” It sounds funny, but he really means to work hard and give maximum effort.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

My coaches Dustin Moore, Josh Clark and Derek Patterson. They always push me to be better and stay focused and have invested a lot of time in me over the years away from their own families to make me a better person in general and to achieve my goals. It really means a lot to me.
