Buhler’s Macy Miller – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by PGH CPA

Buhler High School senior Macy Miller has built her athletic career around a love for competition, a willingness to improve and the relationships she has formed along the way.

Golf holds a special place in Miller’s busy schedule, which also includes softball, cheerleading and bowling. Her connection to the sport began with someone close to home: her older sister, Haley.

“My older Sister, Haley, inspires me because she was a very successful student and athlete and I look up to her very much. She played on the golf team in high school and was a part of the 2019 4A state champion team. Haley is the one who introduced me to the sport I love.”

Miller’s dedication to the game has led to memorable rounds at Carey Park Golf Course, her favorite place to play. The course is also where she posted the lowest score of her career, firing an 81 during the 2025 state tournament.

“My favorite course to play is my home course, Carey Park Golf Course. I have played here for as long as I can remember and I’ve shot my best rounds there. It is not too difficult of a course but will still give you challenges.”

Miller said her 7-iron and 52-degree wedge are the clubs she trusts most. The 7-iron has become one of her most accurate and frequently used clubs, while the wedge has helped her lower scores and find more enjoyment in the game.

She has especially focused on developing her short game, recognizing the importance of putting in competitive golf.

“I have worked the most to improve my short game. Putting is a huge part of golf and where most of your strokes come from. I have changed my putting a lot throughout the years in order to fix new habits created. My putting has gotten much better but there is always room for improvement.”

Beyond scores and individual improvement, Miller values the connection she shares with her teammates.

“I enjoy our team connection the most because we always have a good time. Even if we don’t perform as well as we hoped, we still bond very well together and always have a good laugh.”

In the classroom, Miller has developed an appreciation for English, crediting teacher Mr. Kohls for helping her view writing and literature differently. Athletics has also given her lessons she expects to carry well beyond high school.

“Athletics have taught me how important communication is and to always keep going even in the hard times. You will always have ups and downs in everything you do, so it is important to keep trying until you find your rhythm. Communication is something you will need all your life and as a student athlete it is important to communicate with your coaches on conflict or struggles you face.”
