Buhler’s Sloane Adkins – Bowler Of The Month Presented By The Alley

By Matt Browning

Buhler’s Sloane Adkins established herself as one of the top bowlers in Class 4-1A as she placed in the top ten in eight different meets, including two second place finishes.

Now the objective is to improve on her impressive junior campaign.

“I am most excited for it to be my senior year of bowling and to be able to have two years of bowling to help me get better this year,” Adkins said.

Adkins was first team all-state, first team all-league and had a series average of 167, with her high series being 234.

In order for those numbers to improve, Adkins focused on getting her spare percentage up so that she and her team accomplish many goals this season.

“It’s something that is very important to my coach and is something that he would definitely help me with.,” Adkins said. “As for team goals, winning the Crusader Classic Invitational but also getting our spare percentage higher and more consistent. And of course make it to state.”

Throughout the offseason, Adkins both bowled for fun with her friends, while also working on one area that she deemed to be a weakness.

“One area I struggle with is my 10 and 7 pin spare pick-ups,” Adkins said. “To work on these I have gone bowling specifically to bowl spare games, just bowling the 7 and 10 pin.”
