Hutchinson Trinity’s Gavin Wilson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Medicine Shoppe

Hutchinson Trinity athlete Gavin Wilson told VYPE in a recent interview “My favorite part of being on this team is the bond we have. Every year I’ve been apart of football, it seems as though the team has a special connection on a personal level. Everyone knows everyone and can have a conversation about anything.”

“I’ve probably taken the most away from Andrew Bergmeier. He was a senior when I was a freshman and he gave me so many building blocks that helped me play today. There would be times where I’d get a wrong read or line up wrong and he’d explain to me why I was messed up, which gave me a better understanding of the game. That is something I try to do with younger players now because of him” said Wilson.

This season Wilson has aimed “to reach over 100 tackles, focus on TFLs, and simply just to make my senior season memorable. I also want to pick up some more college offers and hopefully sign later in the year”. He went on to discuss memories he has of all the work he has put in to developing his game.

Stating “Summer workouts are definitely the most fun. Something about waking up at 6 in the morning and going to lift with your team in an exciting environment hits different than some others” but “My favorite athletic memory is definitely my first time playing in a high school game. It was against Chaparral and I remember my 4th play in the game I tackled the quarterback for a loss. The seniors on the field went crazy and the overall environment of the game made it 10x better”.

Off the field Wilson shared that he is an altar server for school masses and try’s to contribute to other needs when they “pop up”. He also involved in the National Honor Society, Board of Regents, and has participated in the Pratt Academic Olympics.
