VYPE had the chance to talk with Maleah Davis and find out more about who she is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for the rest of the track season are to continue setting personal records, and to qualify for state track.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
In the past year, the most fun I have had is in the time I have spent with my friends. My friends and I do a lot of things together, but one of my favorite things to do with them is to go and play pickleball at our local pickleball courts.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher is the teacher I had when I was in fourth grade. My teacher, Mrs. Regehr, was so kind to all of her students and cared a lot about each one of us. If I ever run into her in public, she is still the sweetest person and I enjoy catching up with her.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory was when I was able to run again, following a knee injury. The week of league cross country I fell on gravel and cut my knee open. After getting it stitched up, I had a lengthy healing process, so it felt really good when I was finally able to run again.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
My twin sister, Teigan, is the teammate that has had the biggest impression on me. Everyday, Teigan inspires me to be a better runner and encourages me to push myself. Not only does Teigan encourage me to become a stronger runner; but she also leads by example, each day she puts in all the effort she can and she pushes herself to be a better athlete.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
One of my favorite parts of being on the Trinity track team is the friendships that I have built with my teammates; I also love that we have amazing coaches that want success for all of their athletes.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
If I could go on a vacation anywhere, I would choose to go to Jamaica. I would take my parents, two sisters, and close friends with me to Jamaica.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If I had $500 to spend in the next 24 hours I would go shopping. I would buy new workout clothes and new shoes. After shopping, I would go out and eat with my friends.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I am involved in my school club called Key Club. In Key Club we participate in numerous community service projects including: making tie-blankets for Open Door Pregnancy Center, painting pumpkins to deliver to local nursing homes, participating in community projects on the annual United Way Workday, and helping run games at our local Catholic grade school carnival.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
Outside of Key Club I am involved in Campus Ministry. The Campus Ministry group plans faith based activities for our entire school. I am involved in this club because it allows me to be more involved in my school and allows myself and others to grow in our faith.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I am involved in National Honors Society, High Honor Roll, Student Council, and Kansas Board of Regents.
