VYPE recently spoke with Hutchinson Athlete Jordan Barb to learn more about who she is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for this year are to improve on myself mentally and physically. I hope to spend more time being active and outside and put my happiness first.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I’ve had in the last year were all the times I tried something new like track!
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My biology teacher Mr. McCandless. I have had him for the last 3 years for honors biology and IB biology. He makes learning fun and always pushes every student to do their best. He has proven to be a mentor for me not only in biology, but in life as college creeps around the corner.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory was probably getting to go to Florida for competitive cheerleading.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate who has left the biggest impression on me is Chloe Inskeep. She is constantly motivating me to be the best version of myself in everything I do. She puts her full heart into everything she does and it reminds me to do the same. The care she has for not only her sport, but her team is huge.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Being on the Salthawk track team is like something I’ve never experienced before. The love everyone has for each other without knowing much about each other previously is so fun to watch. everyone is always rooting for each other, even when racing against one another. the bond I’ve made with people and support I’ve received from teammates and coaches has been my favorite part for sure.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would choose to go to California and take my parents, sister, and friend Chloe Inskeep.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would use the $500 towards college expenses.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I do, I donate blood often as well as help run cheer clinics and camps for kids k-8. I also participate in small events around the community if and when possible!
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am in StuCo to be more involved in my school behind the scenes. I was on the cheerleading team and now on the track team to stay in shape while doing something fun. I have also been involved in junior and senior leaders to give back to my school by helping out teachers and underclassmen.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I am in the National Honors Society and am enrolled in IB courses.
